While "Eazy-Duz-It" is clearly superb. My personal favorite is "No More ?'s".

Verse One: Eazy-E

Ruthless, my style as a juvenile
Ran with a gang, slanged in the meanwhile
Bankin, I specialized in gankin
whites, Mexicans, brothers and others
Daily, it's all about comin up
Makin sure no punks are runnin up
[Eazy E: Because I'm a gangster havin fun]
Strapped with a gat when I'm walkin through Compton
Terrible, I never listened to my mother
It went in one ear, and out the other
Ran my gang, sold undercover
Call a girl out a name, yo I ain't no lover
I'm a pimp, mack daddy, lookin for the dollar
At thirteen I bought a six-fo' Impala
Rollin, and runnin from the police
Brother don't you know you can't trust a thief
or thug, convict, hoodlum or criminal
Leave your car open, gank for your stereo
Hard and raw, no regard for the law
[Female: Eazy E, were you ever caught slipping?]
Hell no! Just trippin off 8-ball
And girls ain't nothin but female dogs to me
Bitches! I'm sorry for that verse
It's in my nature, I gotta curse
out anybody gettin on my nerves
You get beat, ganked, broke and served
So... you know who I am
and if you don't like it, I really don't give a damn

[Female: Hmm, I see, so you're rather violent?]
Sometimes
[Female: Ok, what would be the situation when you so-called "gank" somebody?]

Verse Two: Eazy-E

Wait... for some people to leave
I got another trick up my sleeve
Step with pep to the back of the house
Look then... all the lights are out
Grabbed the door and it's locked, so
easily made my way to the window
Lift it up slow, cause it takes timing
Looked around, and then I climbed in
Once inside, I start takin
Cause you know it's no time for shakin
Get what you gonna get, front and center
or get five years for breakin and enter
Move quickly, but no runnin
Shht, I think somebody's comin
Hear the front door key, and I flee
out the back door with a fist full of jewelry
Over the wall... don't fall
Wipe my sweat cause that was a close call
Gettin ganked by the E is a lesson
So... is there any more questions?

[Female: Yes, as a matter of fact, there is...
Have you ever been involved in, like, a armed robbery or a hold-up?]
You mean a 211?
[Female: Yeah]

Verse Three: Eazy-E

There's a store, but don't point
Walk inside, case the joint
One man behind the counter, another in the back
Go out to the car and load the gat
Grabbed the ski mask, here's the task
Go in broke, come out with cash
[Female: Were you slick?]
Yeah, you gotta be cunnin
Told Ice Cube to leave the car runnin
Walked in, said: "This is a robbery"
Didn't need the money, it's just a hobby
Fill the bag, homeboy, don't lag
I want money, beer, and a pack of zig-zags
The man in the back had a camera
so he came out to test his stamina
against Eazy E, but he took one
Fell to the floor, so I ran
back to the bucket, then I said: "Punch it"
Took the gun, and then dumped it
I'm not like Robin Hood, cause I want more
Steal from the rich, hang with the poor
My pockets are fat, you see, it don't matter to me
I feel like nobody is badder than me
[Female: Is all that true ?]
I don't lie
You see... I'm not mister nice guy

[Female: Oh, so you're not exactly a role model?]
Not exactly
[Female: And for your listeners, what does Eazy think of himself?]

Outro: Eazy-E

Bad and bold, you can't get with this
Those that tried, you're on my hit list
Can't be caught, sought or fought
thought, and damn so what?
Down and dirty from the C-P-T
N-W-A and Eazy-E
One more, before we end this session
[Female: What's your real name?]
No more questions!

Someone already said it, but Explosions in the Sky always gives me chills. Your Hand in Mine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36U4ez7AzKA

I'm really not a huge fan - but I always wanted to like brian eno because of the album title "music for airports" - to this day I don't think I've listen to it though.

missed the last two entries and i'm going to try to keep this short and sweet,

"Elastica", i loved this band a lot and think they are still a really important electronic/punk rock band even though they only put out two albums.
of course everyone remembers this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzEfXU5Gsu0&feature=related

they really did a lot of experimental stuff in their records and more so live that a lot of people don't know about, but they covered a very broad spectrum in their short career that i always thought was inspirational and awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX0LoOeZFsk&feature=related

and i don't give a shit what anyone says "Everclears" album Sparkle and Fade is one of the best rock albums ever put out and everyone already adores "Édith Piaf" but i'm not going to suggest the obvious, im going to suggest

"Emily Haines"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-jEHZ-EFc

i think this awesomeness speaks for itself and don't need to suggest anything else by her because it's all extremely good, just click on any song.

Nice call with Enon - I'm liking that. Mine are:

Engineers: British psychedelic rock/shoegaze band. Heavy on the production. Smoke a bowl and enjoy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLgGTn-tqGg
.
Eels: not sure how the Eels didn't get a mention yet. Most of the songs are more on the mellow side, but I went with one of the simpler but more rockin' songs.

yo this is the new battle of the jams. rather, expansion of the jams. extremely great.

Uh geeked out pretty hard on this one, but it seems like E is all about the vocal chords and people everyone know. I left out Elvis Costello (Alison) just because;

Sure a cover, but she's got a cool voice, this happens to be my favorite.
Esther Phillips

No E could be complete without Edith Piaf. Everybody knows her other ones so blah blah wah.

shit - i forgot one E

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGV9G2okC8I&feature=fvst

and - Elton is classic. Philly Freedom, 3 minutes in it's like a choo choo train, people can't sit still. It's a frenzy. English Beat? They may not have had staying power but they were seminal in that sound and era.
in the words of erik b and rakim:
peace peace peace

rofl @#25
So much for getting my E on early! Somehow my D's got lost in submission. Oh well, Daft Punk was already on the list. Digital Underground (Dflo Shuttle) was my other. D Artist and Title 2x Bonus? :D No links now since we are past D.

Interesting to hear the comments about Daft Punk/Dj-ing. I don't know you very well, but it appeared to me that you are thumbing your nose at Daft Punk. With the majority of the commentary on the light show it's hard to understand why Daft Punk isn't your cup of tea. Sure they are a technology based band that is essentially doing mixing for a live show supplementing flashing lights to make up for the lack of instrument playing. Does it really matter how the music is produced (or in the case of the actor's-band, who makes the music)? The only thing that matters is the resulting music.

If this is not the proper place to reply please disregard. Makes me wish there was a forum to compliment this blog. I'm sure we'd have all sorts of interesting observation/discussion.

Both of your submissions I insta-like. I haven't heard any NWA or Easy-E.
I was hesitant about suggesting D-U. Old school rap lyrics can be sort of grating. But I find there is something, raw emotional, about any genre of music that is a bit ragged. Enon, just a good sound I've been on a female lead kick of late, finding that to be of the right flavor.

And FINALLY to my picks:

Mash together fast music, oompah beats of polka, rip some melodies from a famous song, sing in Finnish and you get Humppa! I present to you

Eläkeläiset-Humppaa Tai Kuole!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_FpYsO1K6M

I think it's a riot. Sure some of their stuff is really bad (off key, off beat) but I find it hilarious.

To-mait-o, To-maat-o. You call it Neue Deutsche Härte, I'll still call it Industrial.

ELLIOTT SMITH: a huge musical & emotional influence for me.
"EVERYTHING MEANS NOTHING TO ME" - simple, beautiful, soothing voice/harmonies & sad as hell.

ELLEN ALLIEN: Berlin's techno/IDM/electro queen. (Frankie should be listening to this shit). She's the real deal (also started her own label.) Check out the track "Turbo Dreams (Mark Houle Remix)" (a collaboration she did with another fav of mine, Apparat)

It was good to see a recommendation for Eisley, one of my favorite bands. For "E" I selected a semi-obscure jazz artist, so it is not easy to make direct album-to-Web-site connections. I'm providing links to musical samples/MP3's and links to videos so you can see how my recommended artist plays in various styles and methods. You'll get an overview, and if you like his music, pursue.

Eberhard Weber is a German jazz bass player with a highly distinctive approach to the instrument. He plays a solid body electric upright 5-string bass, sort of a cross between a double bass and an electric bass guitar. Although capable of providing strong musical support in the traditional bass role, he is also a highly imaginative and melodic soloist, and the 5-string instrument gives him plenty of latitude. Weber has recorded for the European jazz label ECM since the early 1970's, and he has worked with other prominent ECM artists including sax player Jan Garbarek and vibraphonist Gary Burton. Weber's music fits perfectly with ECM's trademark classically-influenced jazz style. In 1978 Weber released an album called "Silent Feet" with his group Colours, consisting of piano player Rainer Bruninghaus, woodwind man Charlie Mariano, and jazz-rock drummer John Marshall (who joined Colours after five years and six albums with Soft Machine). "Silent Feet" consists of three compositions: an opening number that is essentially a 17-minute introduction to the second and third numbers, both 12-minute tracks with very long intros. These guys like to take their time getting to the main theme, but it works because their ramblings and detours are so interesting! In addition to Weber's musicianship, listen to all of the ensemble work, including the sax, flute, and piano solos and Marshall's drum and percussion work (he was a heavy hitter with the Softs but plays with a defter touch here). The intro to Eyes That See in the Dark might sound weird, with mindwarp bass and plucked piano strings, but stick it out, because you will be rewarded with the main composition, featuring a fast-paced arrangement that sounds like a tribute to Dave Brubeck's 50's work. "Silent Feet" is a stunning album that deserves many listenings to catch all of the musical subtleties. *** Another Eberhard Weber album worth hearing is "Stages of a Long Journey," a live career overview recorded in 2005 and released two years later, with orchestra and a variety of musicians, many from the ECM family. I recommend Syndrome featuring Burton, Bruninghaus, and Garbarek (listen to Weber driving the band during the piano and sax solos), Hang Around with Reto Weber (no relation) on a melodic percussion instrument called the hang and Nino G. the Human Beatbox, and Weber's solo closing piece, Air.

The following links open the door to Weber's music. MP3 availability is patchy for these albums (only Silent Feet is fully available on MP3, via CD Universe). However, these albums are worth the money to hear in full. Trust me.

El-P. I'm much more a fan and intrigued by El-P's beats than his actual rapping. He seems to come up with really interesting timing schemes but his raping is soooo dense that it can be a little claustrophobic.

Extrawelt. Minimal techno. I'm not 100% on board with this band just yet. This song, "Must Attack" came on Pandora one day and I thought it had a cool title so I grabbed the record. The layering is pretty basic but that's characteristic of minimal techno, I suppose.
